In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced carrots, onion, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3. Mix Filling

2 minutes

In a large bowl, combine the sautéed vegetables, drained tuna, breadcrumbs, crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, parsley, and egg. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 4. Assemble Quiche

2 minutes

Pour the filling into the prepared pastry shell (crust). Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly on top. Spray or drizzle a little olive oil around the edges of the quiche.

Step 5. Bake quiche

30 minutes

Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.

Step 6. Serve

About the Recipe + FAQ

Share

If you’re looking for a delicious, hearty, and gourmet twist on a classic quiche, this Gourmet Tuna Quiche is exactly what you need. Packed with flavorful tuna, fresh vegetables, mozzarella, and a hint of parsley, it’s a dish that elevates everyday ingredients into a sophisticated meal perfect for any occasion.

Which season is this recipe best for?

While tuna quiche is versatile enough for year-round enjoyment, you can prep this tuna quiche anytime. Many ingredients are pantry staples (such as canned tuna, breadcrumbs, and olive oil), and you can easily enjoy this dish regardless of the season.

Where can I buy the ingredients for this recipe?

You can prepare the best version of my Gourmet Tuna Quiche recipe using simple ingredients. Choose solid white tuna in water or olive oil from reputable brands at your local supermarket or specialty food stores. Farmer’s markets or organic produce sections in grocery stores offer the freshest vegetables such as carrots, celery and onions.

You can buy pre-made or make your breadcrumbs by toasting and crushing leftover bread. Look for good-quality canned tomatoes in supermarkets or Italian specialty stores. Choose extra virgin olive oil for the richest flavor. You can find mozzarella from the deli, or the fresh cheese counter delivers the best texture. Sesame seeds are available in the spice or produce aisle of most supermarkets. Shopping at farmers’ markets or specialty stores can elevate your quiche by using fresh, local ingredients.

Can I substitute the ingredients in this recipe?

Absolutely! Here are some thoughtful substitutions to customize the quiche while keeping the gourmet flavor:

Tuna – swap canned tuna with canned salmon, cooked shredded chicken, or even cooked shrimp for a different protein twist.

Carrots – use grated zucchini or bell peppers if you want a milder or more colorful vegetable profile.

Onions – shallots or leeks can replace onions for a subtler flavor.

Breadcrumbs – use crushed crackers or panko for a lighter texture.

Crushed tomatoes – fresh diced tomatoes work well if in season.

Mozzarella cheese – substitute with Gruyère, cheddar, or feta for a different flavor.

Olive oil – any mild-flavored oil, like avocado or sunflower oil can be used.

Sesame seeds – swap for poppy seeds, flaxseeds, or pumpkin seeds for a unique crunch (you can also skip them all).

Can I make this recipe part of a menu?

For a starter, kick things off with my simple Mediterranean Tomato Salad or Cucumber Red Onion Salad.

Pair this Gourmet Tuna quiche with creamy Cucumber Radish Salad, Mediterranean Cabbage Cucumber Salad, or quick and easy Vegetable Ragout.

For dessert, go with my Strawberry Napoleons, Blueberry Tiramisu, Raspberry Pavlova, or Tropical Fruits Pavlova. You will love it!

Which drinks would you pair it with?

Drink pairing are very important if oyu want to get gourmet experience. Crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or Portuguese Encruzado complement the tuna and mozzarella without overpowering the flavors.

As an alternative, you can choose light beer.

For a non-alcoholic option, go with sparkling water with lemon or a lightly brewed iced green tea offers a clean, refreshing accompaniment.

How long can I store this recipe leftovers?

This quiche can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven at 325°F (160°C) to preserve texture.  Quiche freezes well. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil, then freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating. Serve warm or at room temperature, depending on preference. Adding a fresh salad can brighten the reheated quiche. Avoid leaving quiche out at room temperature for more than 1 hour to prevent food safety issues.

Recipe tips & tricks

Here are my tips to make this tuna quiche perfect:

  1. Cook the carrots, onions, and celery in olive oil for extra flavor.
  2. Squeeze out excess liquid to keep your quiche firm.
  3. Breadcrumbs help bind everything without making it heavy.
  4. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
  5. Don’t overbake.
  6. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a nutty crunch.
  8. Use a good-quality pie crust – flaky and buttery makes all the difference.

This Gourmet Tuna Quiche recipe is one of my favorite quiches on the website. From the rich tuna and melty mozzarella to the fresh veggies and aromatic parsley, every bite is so good and flavorful. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

Quiches are my favorite. I make them when I don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It usually took me a bit longer than 1 hour, so you saved me 15 minutes or so. Haha
